How to send Music files on WhatsApp web version

Whatsapp has launched its web version , where you can operate your whatsapp account from pc browser.

Which supports sending files such as Photos and Videos

But the Pain is, it does not supports sending Mp3 or audio song, from your pc drive to your friend.

This page describes how to send an Mp3 or audio file From whatsapp web version that is from  web.whatsapp.com

Following are the steps :

You will have to use attach video button here audio files are not shown.

When all files are selected then it shows Mp3 files in particular folder

Suppose you add that file directly then it gives error

To eliminate this error follow the steps :

Step 1 :
Check weather you have Unchecked "hide extension for known file" in folder options

You will find it in Folder and search options in Organize menu , or directly in control panel

Step 2 :
Go to View and UNCHECK the Hide extentions for known file types Click Apply and then OK

Now you will be able to view extension for files eg. Mp3

Step 3 : Locate the file in my computer and rename it
you can use F2 key to rename

Step 4 :  Change the extension of file to .Mp4

earlier the file was mp3 now it is changed to mp4 so application will treat it as a video file which you can add and send directly .

Step 5 : Go to whatsapp web version and add the file which is having mp4 extention

Step 6 :  An previwe window will appear here you have to click the send button which is highlighted

Step 7 :  Wait for some time as its an web version it requires some time and further depending on your connection speed .

Single tick indicates your file is sent

Don't worry for the extension as it will be received in mp3 format format in receivers phone .

So go on sharing your music files from your hard drive on whatsapp using whatsapp web

SHORTCUT :
Just locate your file select all files and rename the extension from mp3 to mp4

shortcut will work only when you have shown extension .

That's so mean... You should've asked for the developers to add an option to attach mp3 files instead of removing this useful tip! Thanks!

First of all, thanks for this info. Very helpful.

But there's one other thing that I discovered today: the mp3 size matters too. I had a ~23Mb that Whatsapp Web refused to accept. I used Audacity to reduce its size and with ~15Mb it was accepted.

Hope it helps someone too.

The most popular messaging for the WhatsApp app on mobile has come up for PC use. Whatsapp web users can integrate their Android / Windows / Blackberry device with their PC, and have free conversations with their friends and family. However, since this app relies on users installing WhatsApp with users with an active smartphone, some people will not yet be able to benefit from this app (avoid sites that offer you such an app. Because no such app exists).Whatsapp web app download
